Creating web pages started out as a hobby of
mine and has given me a lot of enjoyment. After helping to build websites for
several friends and a business or two over the past couple years, I decided to open my own
web page business. During all this I never took the time to work on my own
site. For the most part, personal web pages are nothing more than a waste of
digital space on the Internet and I suppose this one will be no different. In many
ways websites have become the 90's version of vacation slides and home movies that used to
bore us all to tears. At least here you have the advantage of being able to sneak
off without being seen by the egomaniac who keeps flashing his (or her) slides to a
captive audience.
So before you slip out the door, I'll give you
a little background on myself. I'm a baby boomer who's been married to the same man
for over 33 years and the mother of three sons; ages 32, 29, and 19. The youngest is
the only one left at home, at least until we convince him to find a place of his
own. Both of our older sons are married and we have 2 grandchildren and 3
step-grandchildren.
I have numerous hobbies and interests but the
primary one is the computer. Learning to design web pages provided a means to
express myself artistically. OK, so now you know, I'm a geek-granny. I got
hooked on computers when I got my kids their first Atari game and we went from that to a
Commodore 64, which I still have and it works. It's surprising at what that little
thing can do. Before I graduated to a real computer, I published a monthly
newsletter for my department at work and did it all on my trusty, old Commodore. We
currently have two computers we use at home and are just about to invest in the third and
pass on one of the older models to one of kids.
Some of my other interest include; fishing,
nature, genealogy, arts and crafts, music and anything relating to Native Americans and
their culture. I'm still searching for the links to our Native American roots but
haven't had much luck. I also enjoy collecting recipes, pigs (small figurines, not
the real thing) and jigsaw puzzles. In truth, I'm a certified junk collector and
have tons of it to prove my statement.
I hope to create pages on each of the many
subjects that catch my fancy and find others who share a similar interest and share a bit
about my wonderful family. One of the nicest features on the Internet are the
numerous web rings on any topic you can imagine and a few you'd never dream of up in your
widest fantasy. In time I plan to join a few to give you all a whirlwind tour of
sites around the world.
So that's about it and probably it was too much
for anyone dropping in by accident. To my family and friends who are visiting here:
There will be a quiz to see if you really did read any of this so you may as well
sit back and humor me. You know how sensitive I can be. :-)
